Almost one year to date that my sister called me in PA on my way to class - we had a screaming fit on the phone about an article that ran in her school newspaper re: Black History month. She wrote a rebuttal. It ran in the next month’s paper - decent response. I got an article from a colleague last night about an incident at a high school where a Coach told the bball players (boys team) that the “get hype” chant they do makes them “sound like a bunch of jigaboos.” The Coach was approached by a biracial child’s mother (who is white) and he apologized. The Principal, however, said it is no big deal. I’m already working on my letters to the Principal, Coach, and a phone call to the mother.
